Itella Smartpost is the first courier company to manage parcel machines that are opened to other courier companies. One of the first partners is Cargobus.
"The shipping and delivery methods of parcels are becoming more flexible and moving closer to the customer," explains Airika Aruksaar, CEO of Cargobus. "For example, Cleveron has entered the market with machines suitable for cooperatives and private houses, that can be used to order newspapers, food, and even electronics. In our vision, this direction eliminates the formation of large parcel machine areas around shopping centres," said Aruksaar.
"In Cargobus' opinion, connecting to the network of parcel machines of different companies is the first step closer to a situation where every property owner has their personal one," added Aruksaar.
According to Aruksaar, the choice of the carrier is depending on the location of the parcel machine. If you want to get the ordered goods from a specific parcel machine, you must sign the contract of carriage with a certain machine owner. "Shared use of the parcel machine network gives the customer the opportunity to always use his partner courier company and get service at already agreed prices. In addition, it would rationalise the profitability of all companies and reduce the footprint of the environment at the expense of both, transport pollution and production cost of the parcel machines," said Aruksaar.
